Year 2018
•This is the year of the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, in PyeongChang (9-25 February). The event marks a resumption of dialogue between the two Koreas, who parade under one flag, but also sees the resounding exclusion of Russia from the competitions due to the doping scandal that followed London 2012 and especially Sochi 2014.
•5 February 2018 - (circ. 3/18) The project to establish the P.I. Representation in Lausanne takes shape and the International Literary Competition is launched. From now on, the P.I. will have two "antennas" in Brussels and Lausanne in order to be close to the highest institutions, political continental in Brussels, IOC and International Sports Federations in Lausanne.
•25 - 27 April 2018 - Antwerp - 19th PCU University Games with over 450 participants.
•With Circ. no. 12/18 of 28 May 2018 the P.I. Secretariat informs all clubs of the institution of Panathlon Day on 12 June each year, inviting all clubs to remember it through suitable initiatives. link to Magazine n. 2/2018 pg.14
•15 - 17 June 2018 - Florence - 48th General Assembly. On the previous days, the Scientific and Cultural Commission under the chairmanship of Elaine Cook, the Expansion Commission, for the first time with the physical presence of its members, and the President's Committee met.
The 21st International Congress 'Education in and through sport - Connecting values, physical literacy and wellbeing', with keynote speakers 7 and held in several workshops.
During the proceedings, P.I. President Pierre Zappelli and EFPM (European Fair Play Movement) President Kristian Hinterberger signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of CIFP Vice President Maurizio Monego.
The Extraordinary Assembly preceding the Ordinary Mid-Term Assembly restores the possibility of re-election of the International President for a second and final term.
•24 September 2018 - Three days after the first anniversary of Antonio Spallino's death, Panathlon Como presents the book 'Lo sport non è un isola' (Sport is not an island), dedicated to him and to which Maurizio Monego also contributed.
• 21 - 25 September - The Brussels Representation Office hosts two important events: an EWoS event and a lecture by Prof. Yves Vanden Auweele (link Magazine n. 3/18 pg.22)
•6 - 18 October 2018 - Buenos Aires - The Summer Youth Olympic Games take place. The P.I. is present for the first time with its own stand, where panathletic charters are displayed, gadgets (postcards and bracelets) are distributed, and one can play 'El Sapo', a traditional Argentine game. An excellent opportunity to make P.I. known.
• 26 - 27 October 2018 - Latina - Award ceremony of the 16th International Graphic Arts Competition of the Domenico Chiesa Foundation and unveiling of the monument to Panathlon International, which the Club created to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
