Sunday 6 October was ‘Pierkesdag’ again at the Wouter Weylandt Stadium in Gentbrugge.
Panathlon International Flanders was able to congratulate the organizers of the 27th Pierkesloop that morning for their brilliant organization.
Already in 2014 at the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Declaration of Panathlon, a large delegation of Panathlon International from Italy, including then President Giacomo Santini, was present at the Pierkesloop.
Today in 2024, Willy Pennoit, president of Panathlon Flanders, presented the president of Racing Atletiek Gentbrugge with an official recognition for their restrained effort to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people.
The parents and teachers involved were also complimented by Paul Standaert for their efforts in promoting sport and exercise from the earliest youth.
Some 2,500 pre-school and primary school children ran their rounds on the beautiful Wouter Weylandt track in Gentbrugge.
Besides Belgian Deputy Prime Minister De Sutter, Paralympian and Panathlon Flanders director Pascal Cornelis presented the fastest runners with a cup.
Other Panathlon members could also enjoy their child's running achievements.
