Athletes' Voices - Putting Athletes' Voices at the Centre of Sport Safeguarding

Turning the safeguarding debate on its head, this conference will focus on athletes' needs, priorities and perspectives on safeguarding. Athletes will share their views. Each session will include two athletes interviewed (some with experience of violence in sport), who will provide reflections on the data presented.

The conference will open on Thursday 11 March with a keynote speaker and four speakers discussing human and children's rights, athlete defense, community and state defense.  On Friday 12 March there will be six interdisciplinary sessions discussing a range of topics, including athlete-coach communication, the approaches to justice focused on the athlete and independent interventions.

Panathlon International chosen as partner in the EPOSM Erasmus+Project

"Evidence-based prevention of match-fixing in sport".

The EPOSM project ("Evidence-based Prevention of Sport-related Match-fixing") launched in 2020, will last two years (2020-2021) and is co-financed by the European Commission in the context of the Erasmus+ Collaborative Partnerships in Sport programme. During this project, eleven high-level European institutions will join forces to: raise awareness on the prevalence of sport-related (i.e. non-betting-related) match-fixing, stimulate moral judgement on sport-related match-fixing, and share and transfer this knowledge. These objectives will be pursued by disseminating and analysing questionnaires on match-fixing in seven European countries, developing country-specific action plans and organising workshops against match-fixing and disseminating these results to as many sports stakeholders as possible.

Panathlon International, through the Panathlon Representation in Brussels, in close contact with the Panathlon Cultural and Scientific Committee, was called upon to collaborate mainly because of its familiarity with the complex sports landscape, its extensive network and the sport-practice competence of its members. In the next issue of the magazine you will find the in-depth analysis.

70 Years of Panathlon  - 1951-2021

On 12th June this year Panathlon will be 70 years old!

While the preparations of the Club of Venice are in progress to organize a great event for that day, all Clubs are invited to celebrate the Panathlon Day that this year will have an even more significant value as it will be lived in a context, we hope, of rebirth for sport, associationism and the whole world.

In this expectation we thought, hoping to do a pleasant thing, to create a "special" logo that clubs and bodies of Panathlon, will be able to insert on letterhead, e-mail messages, web sites, social media etc..

A small symbol to feel all closer.

The first part of the Panathlon International Photo Contest 2020 has ended.

The photos taken by Martino Pota member of the Club of Rome, manager of the SS Lazio Bowling (section colours) and the one taken by Lucia Custodi President of the Panathlon Club Orvieto (section black/white) have been the ones that have obtained more likes on our Facebook page, winning the Web Award!

The photos will be published on the cover of PI Magazine, as stated in the Contest Rules.

Congratulations to Martino Pota and Lucia Custodi and  thank you to the numerous participants for their pics; through the language of the images they have transmitted emotions, worries and new behaviours that this pandemic has forced us to live in sport and in our lives, sometimes also with a pinch of irony!

An international jury will decide the final winners in each category.

The album of all the photos that participated can be seen at

16th Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport (coe.int)

Sport and Panathlon lose one of their great promoters, Antoine Paccaud.

Passionate about panathletic values, he always considered sport as a determining element for youth education and health.

Founding member of the Panathlon Club Yverdon-les-Bains, which he presided, he has held International posts as International Board Member, International Vice-President and  Delegate of the Expansion Commission for Europe.

During this mandate, he was responsible for promoting panathletic ideals by contributing to the creation of several clubs in Europe and North Africa.

His action in promoting fair play and ethical behaviour has earned him several awards, including the nomination as honorary President of his club.

Panathlon International shares the grief of his family and Club.

We learn the sad news of the passing of our friend William Saad Abdulnur, former President of District Brazil, member of the Expansion Commission, President of the Club of Taubaté and currently past president of the Club of Taubaté.

He served as International Board Member in the years 2019-2020.

The family of Panathlon International offers its deepest condolences to the family and the entire District Brazil.
