Panathlon International – Domenico Chiesa Foundation, in agreement with Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (FICTS), has extended the registration deadline for the Video Competition “SPORT, MOUNTAIN & OLYMPISM – SNOW & ICE SPORTS”, in the framework of the «41st SPORT MOVIES & TV – Milano International FICTS Fest», “Shorts” section: the new registration deadline is now 10 September 2023.
Participating is easy: you just need to complete the registration form and send your video via WeTransfer to the address specified in the Competition Rules.

Saturday 6 May in Reggio Emilia took place the award ceremony for the winners of the International Photo Contest announced by the "Cultural Foundation Panathlon International - Domenico Chiesa" and by the "Foundation for Sport of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia", with the collaboration of the "Magnani Foundation Palace". After the selection phases, the Jury decreed the following winners among the 30 photographs chosen for the exhibition:
1st PRIZE: Vittoria SONEGO (ITA)
for "What do you want to be when you grow up".

2nd PRIZE: Sofia Bravi (ITA)
for "Networks without Borders"
Plaque and 1000 €
3rd PRIZE: Lorenzo Boffa (ITA)
for "Run Boy".

The first prize winner was awarded by the Mayor of the city of Reggio Emilia, Luca Vecchi. The "Panathlon Clubs Prize" was awarded to the photograph "Networks without Borders" by Sofia Bravi, winner of the 2nd prize. The "Public's Prize", awarded by social network preferences, goes to the photograph "Urban Flow" by Argentinean Nicolas Bilikis. Both winners will receive a one-year subscription to one of the most internationally renowned photo magazines.
Finally, the Jury awarded two Honourable Mentions for the photograph "Ilalò by Argentinian Patricio De La Cruz and for "El deporte alegria y companerismo" (Sport joy and companionship) by Mexican Manuel Soria Meraz.
On the same afternoon, the Photographic Exhibition of the 30 finalist photographs was also inaugurated at the University of Modena and Reggio (UNIMORE). Attended by the Municipal Councillor for Sport and Culture of Reggio Emilia Raffaella Curioni, the President of the Foundation for Sport of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Mauro Rozzi, the responsible of the OFF circuit of the Foundation Palazzo Magnani Annachiara Rea, the Vice-President of Panathlon International Foundation - Domenico Chiesa, Enrico Prandi - also as President of Panathlon Club Reggio Emilia - and its Secretary, Maurizio Monego, the Secretary General of Panathlon International, Simona Callo and Mrs. Monica Rossi representative of the Secretariat, who assists the D. Chiesa Foundation.
Great satisfaction for the young prizewinners to whom we express our warmest congratulations. With their shots they managed to well interpret the theme of the competition and convey emotions by immortalising dreams, integration and educational values.
At the end of the various stages of selection of the works participating in the competition announced by the "Cultural Foundation Panathlon International - Domenico Chiesa" and by the "Foundation for Sport of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia", with the collaboration of the "Palazzo Magnani Foundation" organiser of the European Photo Festival, the Jury has awarded the absolute prizes.
The podium will be formed - in random order - by Silvia Bravi (Italy) for the photograph "Networks without borders", by Vittoria Sonego (Italy) for the photograph "What do you want to be when you grow up" and by Lorenzo Boffa for "Run boy".
The order of the steps on the podium will be announced during the Awards Ceremony of the European Photo Festival OFF Circuit, which will be held in Casotti Square, Reggio Emilia, on Saturday 6 May starting at 6:30 pm. During the ceremony will be made official the name of the winner of the "Audience Award", resulting from the preferences expressed among all the photographs participating in the competition and the Award “Panathlon Clubs" of the world according to the votes sent by the Referents of the accredited clubs. The authors will receive as prize a one-year subscription to a prestigious photography magazine.
Two Honourable Mentions will also be awarded.
Great participation in the International Photo Contest "Identity and Sport 2023"!
By the deadline date (25 March) we received 100 photos that will be voted by the International Jury to identify the three final winners and to designate the 30 works that will constitute the exhibition that will take place in Reggio Emilia (Italy), in the premises of UNIMORE University, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, from 6 May 2023. Starting yesterday, the public will be able to vote for their favourite photo by giving their 'like' on Facebook until 23 April.
The photo with the highest number of preferences will win the "Audience Award" consisting in a subscription to an international photography magazine.
A similar prize will be awarded also by the Panathlon Clubs that, through their referents, will decree the winner of the "Panathlon Club Prize".

Panathlon International together with the P.I.- Domenico Chiesa Cultural Foundation, the Foundation for Sport of the Reggio Emilia Municipality and with the collaboration of “Palazzo Magnani” Foundation announce, for 2023, a new photo contest on the theme "Identity and Sport".
The competition will end with the exhibition that will be set up within the event of the "Off circuit" of the European Photography Festival organised by the “Palazzo Magnani Foundation” that will take place in Reggio Emilia (Italy), from 28 April to 11 June 2023.
Participation is open to young people in the 18-30 age bracket, from any country in the world. Each author may register free of charge using the form attached to the Rules, together with a copy of an identity document by 25 March 2023, using the WeTransfer platform.

The film ICEFALL by Swiss director Joseph Areddy won first prize in the second edition of the International Visual Art Competition, curated by PI Domenico Chiesa Foundation and included in the 40th International FICTS Festival, held in the city of Milan, thanks to the generous collaboration given by Prof. Franco Ascani, President of the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs and member of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Heritage.
The Milan festival is the Final Phase of the "World FICTS Challenge", the World Championship of Cinema, Television and Sports Culture, which takes place annually at the conclusion of the Phases consisting of the Festivals held in 20 countries of the 130 associated countries. Today marks also the tenth anniversary of Panathlon International's participation in the Beijing Festival in which the PANASPORTGAME video game was presented and later obtained an 'Honorable Mention' in Milan.
The eighth section of Festival 2022, reserved to PI Domenico Chiesa Foundation and dedicated to short films - maximum 4 minutes - saw the participation of works from 6 countries: Australia, China, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Switzerland.
- The first prize went to ICEFALL by Joseph Areddy from Switzerland, a gripping film of a climb up an icefall. In addition to the €3,000 prize and the plaque, it also won the "Panathlon Club Award" as the most voted by the Referents.
- Second place (2000 euros) to ROCK & SNOW by Michele Benericetti (Italy).
- Third place went to the Chinese JUNRU AND KEVIN by Wang Junru (1000 euros).
The "Special Audience Award" went to Umberto Mingolla and Mario Falotico for the video THE VALUE OF THE MOUNTAIN AND THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT as the movie with more views on the web. The audience has also received a brochure - in Italian and English – with the presentation of Panathlon International and the Foundation.
The Foundation also awarded a special mention plaque to the film submitted by the Organizing Committee of the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Games, entitled A DATE OF ICE AND SNOW. A summary of the Olympic Torch relay run for those events, with the motivation of intending to "pay tribute to the Committee in appreciation of the artistic contribution made".
The Vice-President of the Foundation, Enrico Prandi, has represented the International President Pierre Zappelli, unable to participate because on his way back from Bolivia, where the XIV Pan American Congress of Panathlon International took place. During his intervention, at the prize-giving ceremony, he officially announced that the Foundation will take part with its International Visual Competition also in the 2023 edition. The competition announcement will be published soon on Panathlon International website.

Si è svolta a Milano la Conferenza stampa di presentazione di SPORT MOVIES & TV 2022 – 40th Milano INTERNATIONAL FICTS Fest, la finale dei 20 Festival – nei 5 continenti – del “World FICTS Challenge”, Campionato Mondiale della televisione, del cinema, della comunicazione e della cultura sportiva in programma a Milano dal 9 al 13 Novembre.
A condurla, con la consueta verve, è stato il Prof. Franco Ascani, Presidente della Federazione Internazionale che da 40 anni svolge la sua mission e che proprio lui ha portato ad alto livello, tanto da essere l’unico italiano riconfermato componente della Commissione Cultura e Patrimonio Olimpico del CIO.

Dopo il saluto video registrato dal Presidente del CONI Giovanni Malagò, ha preso la parola la Direttrice dell’Istitut Français di Milano, Linda Marchetti, che ci ha ospitato.
E’ stata quindi la volta del Presidente del CONI Lombardia, il panathleta Marco Riva, seguito dal Presidente del CIP Lombardia Pierangelo Santelli.
Alla conferenza è intervenuto il segretario della Fondazione, Maurizio Monego, che ha brevemente esposto la natura della Fondazione e le ragioni della collaborazione con FICTS. Com’è noto, la FONDAZIONE CULTURALE PANATHLON INTERNATIONAL – DOMENICO CHIESA è presente nel festival curando la sezione n. 8 «International Video Competition» per filmati brevi, sul tema “Sport, Mountain and Olympism – Snow & Ice Sport”.
I video partecipanti a questa edizione provengono da sei Paesi: Australia, Cina, Italia, Repubblica Ceca, Slovenia e Svizzera. Per il 2023 il progetto sarà riproposto con alcune varianti per rendere più estesa la partecipazione.Numerose le personalità del settore cultura dello sport e di organizzazioni legate alla FICTS. Fra i presenti, il Vicepresidente Vicario Lombardia Claudio Pedrazzini e la Vicepresidente Carola Mangiarotti, entrambi panathleti, oltre a produttori, alcuni registi e giornalisti della carta stampata e di network. Il Panathlon era presente anche con Renata Soliani e Adriana Balzarini.
Adriana ha esposto in mostra la Torcia Olimpica che transitò a Milano, diretta ai Giochi Olimpici di Londra 1948. Nel suo breve intervento ha ricordato che quel modello di torcia fu impiegato per 4 Olimpiadi, fino al 1956, compresa quella di Cortina d’Ampezzo. Di qui un legame con la manifestazione che si va inaugurando e in particolare col tema affidato alla Fondazione del Panathlon International – Domenico Chiesa.
