A PI delegation formed by the International President Pierre Zappelli, the General Secretary Simona Callo, the International Board Member Giorgio Chinellato and the Vice President of the Panathlon Club Mestre Marta de Manincor met with the top management of the One Ocean Foundation chaired by Commodore Riccardo Bonadeo to discuss and implement the collaboration agreement already signed in 2019, just before the pandemic. The aim of this meeting was to sign a specific and operational project to continue the collaboration with new concrete actions. In March, we will try to launch the awareness-raising project by organising a joint event followed by the involvement of Panathlon and Nautical Clubs, inviting them not only to sign the Charta Smeralda, but also to spread the principles of water protection through the practice of sport, as indicated by the IOC (2020+5 project) and the UN (recommendation no. 10). Other moments of collaboration could be identified during the International Oceans Week and other events.
Panathlon International, after the Convention that was held in Rondine in May 2022, invites all Panathlon Clubs to get active to implement the Project "Fair Play restarts from the school".
Thanks to the collaboration of Prof. Matteo Lazzizzera, speaker at the above-mentioned Convention, all Panathlon Clubs will be able to have a valid guide to replicate the Project in the scholastic Institutes of every order and grade of the territories of competence of each Club.
The documents provided are really interesting and are the result of an experimentation that lasted years, with a really complete implementation framework. The project is both ambitious and challenging, but we are sure that several Panathlon Clubs, even if they will not be able to carry it out in its entirety, will be able to take the opportunity to start a successful collaboration with the scholastic Institutes.
An opportunity to spread Ethics and Fair Play in schools!
The fight against corruption has been highlighted as one of the central topics of sport, the promotion of integrity and positive values in sport being a central focus.
In this context, Sport Against Match-Fixing (SAMF) emerges - a project funded by the Erasmus + Sport programme and coordinated by the Portuguese Football Federation with Panathlon International as a Partner.
The International Olympic Committee has published a new Declaration that reaffirms solidarity with Ukraine and sanctions against Russia and Belarus, but also analyses the status of athletes from these countries. A new step in the policy of protection of athletes, as hoped also during the discussions that emerged in the Round Table organised by Panathlon International last September in Rome at the Olympic Preparation Centre Giulio Onesti, entitled "Effects of conflicts and politics in Sport".
Below is the link to the IOC Website where you will find the full Declaration and the PI Declaration resulting from the Round Table.

PI’s Constitution and Arbitration Board (CAB) and Auditors’ Board (AB) have appointed their two new Chairs, respectively Sandro Fagiolino from Panathlon Club Orvieto and Giuseppe Ravasi from Panathlon Club Parma, to whom we wish a most fruitful work.
This decision was adopted by common accord by all the members who, since they took office after election in 2020, had agreed on rotating the chairmanship at mid-term. We wish to thank Riccardo Galassi from Panathlon Club Ancona and Andrea Sbardellati from Panathlon Club Siena for chairing the two Boards since late 2022 and for showing continued service-oriented commitment together with Franco Fähndrich (CAB) from Panathlon Club Luzern and Marino Albani (AB) from Panathlon Club San Marino.

Cycling and international Panathlon mourn the passing of Vittorio Adorni, a great protagonist of a human and sporting event that has profoundly affected these two worlds. He was 85 years old.
The commitment that involved him most on 'stationary wheels' was in Panathlon International, the service club of sportsmen and women in the world, in which he held the position of international president for eight years, from 1996 to 2004. His charisma as a champion and as an executive made the movement grow in number of members and in consideration by the International Olympic Committee.
In the sport of cycling, he leaves behind the example of an authentic and gentle champion, a professional from 1961 to 1970, capable of conquering the highest goals, such as the Giro d'Italia in 1965 and the world champion's rainbow jersey in 1968, and remaining profoundly modest. He was also a successful sports director of champions like Eddy Merckx and then an intelligent television commentator alongside Sergio Zavoli and presenter of a popular television programme with artist Liana Orfei.
He was also involved in cycling as a representative of the professional sector within the International Cycling Union. He was also involved in politics as municipal councillor for sport in his city Parma.
Everywhere he left the imprint of a passionate presence and a capacity for serene, objective and positive analysis of sporting or political events, with deep respect for people and truth.
To discuss the results of the research step, the Partners of the Erasmus+ funded Project, Sports Against Match-Fixing (SAMF), met on the 17th and 18th of November 2022 in the Malta Football Association HQ (National Stadium, Ta’ Qali) to discuss the progress and results of the research step, as well to discuss the preliminary results of the quantitative/qualitative analytical work that has been conducted so far by the Partners and to define the next actions and deadlines. It was also a good moment for the Partners to meet and discuss and exchange experiences on their individual deliverables/outcomess, e.g. the results of their respective focus group meetings, as well as their interview outputs.
After two full intense days of work, the Malta Football Association, which kindly organized and setup these meetings, also provided the Partners a relaxing visit to its Museum, as well as the chance to assist to a friendly match between the Men’s Malta National Football team and the Greek National Football Team.
Panathlon International is one of the partners of SAMF – Sport Against Match-Fixing (SAMF), a Erasmus+ funded project, which is being coordinated by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and which is further composed of following partners - Sport Evolution Alliance (SEA), FIBA EUROPE, Malta Football Association (MFA), Lithuania Football Federation (LFF) and EUNIK.
Panathlon International has been, through its clubs, especially active in the promotion of positive sporting values and ethics, in particular with awareness raising sessions on the combat of all sorts of sports manipulation, i.e. through online and physical held seminars and workshops, as well as previous participations in other projects/Erasmus+ funded projects related to the combat of match-fixing.
Panathlon International together with the P.I.- Domenico Chiesa Cultural Foundation, the Foundation for Sport of the Reggio Emilia Municipality and with the collaboration of “Palazzo Magnani” Foundation announce, for 2023, a new photo contest on the theme "Identity and Sport".
The competition will end with the exhibition that will be set up within the event of the "Off circuit" of the European Photography Festival organised by the “Palazzo Magnani Foundation” that will take place in Reggio Emilia (Italy), from 28 April to 11 June 2023.
