On 29 November 2019 the city of Trieste will host a session of the President’s Committee of Panathlon International, coordinated by President Pierre Zappelli. 

The meeting will take place at the Savoia Excelsior Hotel on the morning of Friday, November 29.

On Thursday 17th  October, Presidents Pierre Zappelli and Bruno Molea together with the General Secretaries  Simona Callo and Wolfgang Burghardt, in the presence of the responsible of the CSIT President's Office Ms. Valeria Gherardini, have expressed their satisfaction with the excellent outcome of “Panathlon Prize” established on the occasion of the World CSIT Games and their desire to continue with this project for the next games that will be held in Zagreb in 2021. They also discussed how to implement collaboration and participation in projects aimed at the European community. 

At the end of the meeting, President zappelli invited those present to attend Panathlon International Congress in May 2020. The following day the CSIT forum “Sport impact all” took place at the hall of Honour of CONI at the Foro Italico. 

           

 

 

Conclusions of the 13th Pan-American Congress

Buenos Aires 3-5 October 2019

 

The role of Panathlon in the new millennium was the focus of the 13th Pan-American Congress held in Buenos Aires from 3 to 5 October.

The importance of Panathlon's role in supporting the development of sport through the promotion of cultural and moral values was discussed in the presence of the highest panathletic authorities and several Italian and European delegations

Panathlon’s contribution to the World Fair Play Awards 

There was a lot of Panathlon during the day of the World Fair Play Awards delivery in the Council Chamber of Pest's Town Hall. The Hungarian capital welcomed the guests of the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) with a programme full of significant moments. 

Morning dedicated to a conference in the auditorium of the University of Physical Education promoted by the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) which wanted to celebrate its 25 years of life. Among the most significant interventions, that of Zsigmond Nagy who illustrated the perspectives arising from the relations between Fair Play, Ethics and Sports Legislation.

The award ceremony – see the full list below – featured many of the names reported by Panathlon International as a member of CIFP. 

Fabio Caramel received Pierre de Coubertin Trophy for Gesture from the hands of President Jeno Kamuti. The proposal had come from the Panathlon Club Venice. 

David Smetanine winner of the Trophy for the Career was absent because he was involved in Paralympic competitions. Marie Claire Nepi secretary of the Club of Grenoble withdrew the award for him. The French club has made also the name of Geo Perli, who has received the Diploma of Honour for his Career in the spirit of fair play. 

Roberto Camelia, proposed by Area 9 – Sicily, has received the Diploma of Honour for Career. He was accompanied by Sicilian panathletes from Syracuse who have widely celebrated him.

Federico Bollati and Rodolfo Carrera, both candidates from the Club of Pavia, received the Diploma of Honour for Gesture from the hands of CIFP Vice-President Maurizio Monego.

Massimo Righi proposed by the Club of Bononia and CEO of the League of Volleyball Serie A has received the Diploma of Honour for “Promotion”.

Panathlon's satisfaction was reflected in the blue eyes of Simona Callo, Secretary General of P.I. representing President Pierre Zappelli. It was a beautiful celebration and the parade of so many champions who, with their values testify sport’s humanity, gratified the feelings that every good sportsman cultivates.

    

   

 

 

 

 

Panathlon International  learned of the sad news of Prof Bruno Grandi death. He was a member of the Panathlon Club Forli, and was also awarded the Flambeau d'Or Prize for Culture in 2004.  He was honorary president of the International Gymnastics Federation.

A sports executive manager who deeply marked the evolution of the gymnastic disciplines and he was an authoritative protagonist in the national and Olympic sports world.

Panathlon CSIT - World Games 2019 - Tortosa

The 2019 Panathlon Prize was presented at the closing ceremony of the CSIT World Games held on Saturday, July 6th in Tortosa, Spain!

 

From the collaboration between CSIT and Panathlon International, Presidents Pierre Zappelli and Bruno Molea have set up a competition for all CSIT members, present in more than 30 countries around the world, to award the Panathlon Prize - CSIT, with the aim of strengthening the roots that unite the two associations: the passion for sport and the promotion of the development of the sporting ideal and its moral and cultural values.

 

The idea was born to seek, through CSIT Associates, a personality who was particularly distinguished by his own behaviour, and his actions for the affirmation of the ethical values of sport.  

 

Among the many nominations received, the winner of the 1st Edition of the Panathlon Prize - CSIT was OLIN KALEVI, reported by the "Finnish Workers' Sports Federation TUL".

 

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the values of sport throughout his life, Olin Kalevi was honoured by President Pierre Zappelli at the CSIT World Games Ceremony.

IOC Evaluation Commission Report 2026 on the candidate cities for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2016

One month ahead of the host city election, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today released the report by the Evaluation Commission 2026. It provides a thorough assessment of the two candidates, Stockholm-Åre and Milan-Cortina*, following the working visits on 12-16 March and 2-6 April respectively, and analyses of the candidature files and additional documentation submitted. It will serve as a guide for the IOC Members before they vote on 24 June at the 134th IOC Session in Lausanne.

IB member Paul Standaert represented Panathlon International at the seminar in Sintra, organized by the directory general Sport of the European Commission in collaboration with the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Yought.

The Ewos platform has become an interesting networking moment to exchange good practices and to discuss about the role of sport in education, social welfare, integration and also the values of sport within an economic region large as the European Continent.

Panathlon’s partnership with EWOS has evolved into a relationship with the representatives of DG Sport and with representatives of the participating national coordination bodies as Bulgaria, France, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Finland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Serbia, Greece, Malta and more.

Panathlon was proud to report about the initiatives taken in2018 by our clubs (especially in Italy) which reflected the passion and commitment of our members to ethics and sport for all.

Mr. Vitor Pataco, president of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Yought and Mr. Jorge Vilela de Carvalho, Director of Sports department, welcomed the participants at the event in Sintra.

Mr. Matteo Zacchetti, EC directory general Sport, introduced the seminar and underlined the importance of the fifth edition of the European week and the success of it as it has become a major event in 29 countries already.

Finland’s city of Espoo will be host for the opening ceremony of the 5th EWOS in September 2019. 

At the event, IB member, Standaert met other partners as then European Lotteries and European Federation of Company Sports (EFCS) and evaluated possible collaboration in the future.

As these European events become regular the opportunities to promote our Panathlon values are become more and more interesting and important as it should in the future strengthen our role and place within the role of sport and its values, but also be a fertile ground to expand our movement Europe. 

The Club of Maldonado y Punta del Este visiting the General Secretariat of Panathlon International

Tuesday, May 21 a delegation of the Club of Maldonado y Punta del Este (U) visited the headquarters of Panathlon International in Rapallo, on the occasion of a trip carried out in Italy.

Carlos de Léon, President of the Club, together with the Treasurer Coussan Leonel and their dear ladies were welcomed at Villa Queirolo by the staff of the General Secretariat, the Secretary General and the Italian District President

Giorgio Costa who, having heard about the visit, greeted with enthusiasm the Uruguayan friends.  

A good opportunity to get to know each other better, to exchange experiences and consolidate the Panathletic friendship.
