The International Olympic Committee (IOC) reaffirms its strong position against the politicisation of sport. This position is a Fundamental Principle of the Olympic Charter, which says:
“Recognising that sport occurs within the framework of society, sports organisations within the Olympic Movement shall apply political neutrality. They have the rights and obligations of autonomy, which include freely establishing and controlling the rules of sport, determining the structure and governance of their organisations, enjoying the right of elections free from any outside influence and the responsibility for ensuring that principles of good governance be applied.”

Enrico Prandi, Vice President of the Cultural Foundation Panathlon International Domenico Chiesa, talked about the Photo Competition 2024 reminding that the exhibition of the selected works will be organised inside the Unimore in Reggio Emilia, viale Allegri.
The competition will expire next 17 March and the award ceremony will be on 4 May always in Reggio Emilia.
Next 21 March, the Club of Lisbon has organised an in-person and online event to disseminate the results of the Erasmus SAMF project.
The invitation is open to anyone who would like to participate.

The next meeting of the International Board will be held on 14 Thursday and 15 Friday March, starting at 9.30 a.m. at the headquarters of Villa Queirolo in Rapallo.
Among the items on the agenda, the following will be discussed: - the reports to be presented at the General Assembly, the final balance and the budget estimate together with the membership fee proposal for the next biennium; the organisation of the General Assembly and the Round Table to be held in Agrigento; the initiatives undertaken for the Paris Olympic Games; the setting up of an Ethics Commission; the partnership agreement with IDF; the adhesion to Erasmus projects; the idea of creating a Mascot for PI.
On Friday 15 March at 11 a.m., there will be the 'PI - D. Chiesa' Foundation meeting to reflect on the current projects and agree on the lines of action for the near future.
New Board members Andrea Tortora and Fabiano Gerevini will participate for the first time, taking over from Patrick Van Campenhout and the late Eugenio Guglielmino.
Ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is celebrating a monumental achievement set to be reached at the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024: The IOC has distributed quota places equally to female and male athletes – 50:50. For the first time in Olympic history, there will be full gender parity on the field of play.
The project 'Sport Against Match Fixing' - SAMF - aims to raise awareness among grassroots athletes about the nature of match-fixing and the negative impact of this practice on athletes' careers.
This game serves as a tool for coaches, managers and educators to facilitate educational and awareness-raising sessions against match-fixing in sport.
Yesterday, February 22, was held the five-year celebration of Panathlon International's Representation at the Maison du Sport in Lausanne.
President Pierre Zappelli welcomed the participants with a speech in which he explained our aims and how, through our presence in Lausanne, we have managed to strengthen relations with the international sports world.
He also presented the results achieved and future projects. Sergei Aschwanden, judo Olympian and member of the Club Lausanne, then spoke about his sports experience and his close relationship with Panathlon.
There were numerous participants: representatives of the IOC, International Federations, International Associations and Partners, sports personalities, presidents and delegates of PI Districts along with the Treasurer, Secretary General, Vice President of the Lisbon Club and the Secretary of the Representation.
The celebration ended with an aperitif and a commemorative cake to celebrate this important milestone to the satisfaction of all participants.
Martedì 13 febbraio si è tenuto il 2° workshop SAMF – Sport Against Match Fixing - presso il Liceo Economico Sociale Terenzio Mamiani di Pesaro, in collaborazione con il Panathlon Club di Pesaro rappresentato dal Presidente Angelo Spagnuolo.
Ad incontrare giovani e adulti per raccontare e aprire un dialogo su uno dei lati oscuri dello sport è stata Barbara Rossi, pedagogista e direttrice sportiva, Past President del Panathlon Pesaro e unica Ambassador per l'Italia del progetto SAMF che vede la partecipazione del Panathlon International come Partner.
L’incontro è stato un successo, ha visto la partecipazione di 80 studenti e atleti e dei loro insegnanti, che attraverso i materiali di sensibilizzazione predisposti dal consorzio, hanno potuto dialogare con i ragazzi e le ragazze anche sugli aspetti sociologici e culturali che possono influenzare i comportamenti illeciti.
